Who's got the time?

I need to draw. Like something meaningful, toward a body of work. Not the little side things I do for everyone else. I mean don't get me wrong, I love my job, I love decorating, I love making things for my students, but I miss making art for myself. And unfortunately working and going to school doesn't leave me much time to do anything.

I wonder if I would feel better if I got something small done.

Impossible.

My name is Melissa, but most of my friends call me Peanut. In other words, I'm a really tiny girl with a really big heart. I can be on the shy side, until you get to know me and then I dont shut up. I am extremely close with my family and would do anything for them. I have a younger brother who has multiple disabilities. He is the most amazing child I have ever known and I would not be the same without him.

In 2007, I received my B.A. in Art Education from Adelphi University in NY. I am currently working as an Art Teacher for children with special needs and I love it!

I spent a semester of my junior year studying abroad in Florence, Italy, meaning I was actually living at the center of the Renaissance. It was the most amazing experience of my life and I wouldn't change a second of it for anything.

As far as Art goes, I do a little bit of everything, but I mainly enjoy drawing. My drawings are typically inspired from my own photography. My recent works express fading memories as a passage of time--people being in one place in time, remembering specific moments about that place, yet the memory constantly changes as they are forced to move forward in life. I work primarily in vine and compressed charcoal, as well as chalk pastel, on colored paper in order to establish a feeling of nostalgia.
